2004 No6 Shiraz Cabernet

Winemaker’s comments

Deep maroon, crimson and magenta hues. A lifted spice and herb aroma. Rosemary fragrance mixed with plum and dark fruit red fruits. Juicy berries up front greet explosive fruits couples with talc and fine drying tannins which carry the fruit across the palate uninterrupted. Approachable now but will cellar for 6-8 years.

This release is the first in screw cap and we have been very impressed by the performance of the wine under this closure.

Winestate 2008 Annual

“Smooth, sumptuous and meaty with a minty confiture-like expression of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and redcurrants handsomely backed by smoky vanilla and chocolate-like oak with spicy undertones of cinnamon. Backed by firmish, fine tannins, its plush, creamy palate delivers a ripe core of flavour with underlying nuances of bacon, dried herbs and menthol, finishing with persistent fruit, pepper and spice.”
“Rather plush and deeply flavoured, the No.6 offers some terrific value for money.”

90 POINTS – Jeremy Oliver,
“The Australian Wine Annual 2009”

Very hand-made, with a European/Rhone feel", suggested one judge. Complex, barnyardy, licorice aromas and a very full, complex palate with nicely developed flavours.

“A big, powerful, robust wine; masses of
black and red fruits, bitter chocolate, with
firm, almost gritty tannins; considerable
length and persistence”

“The grapes for this rollicking shiraz cab
blend were grown in the famous old Metala
vineyard: the pedigree shines in the wine’s
intense black fruit.”
