2006 No6 Shiraz

Winemaker’s comments

Deep dark red/plum in colour. Gentle black pepper and spice support lifted redcurrant and raspberry aromas along with subtle darker fruits such as blackcurrant and plums, with a hint of mint.

Medium bodied in structure, the palate displays a balance of regional sweet red fruits, pepper/spice and plush, soft tannins that result in great length and complexity for enjoyment over the next 5+ years.

"Top Aussie Red..... A rich chocolaty shiraz from a good year in the warm generous Langhorne Creek region. Aromas of herbs and spices, a hint of mint and a liberal infusion of oak. Deep and smooth in the mouth, with a robust flavour and satisfying density. Now to eight years.

"Rich, warm aromas of pepper and spice with aniseed and chocolate mint flavours on an intense mid-weight palate with good savoury tannins firming up the finish."
Graeme Phillips Hobart Mercury October 2008

"The distinctive No.6 mark represent the Shiraz dimension of Brothers in Arms, whose wines are estate grown and made to showcase the historic Metala Vineyards of Langhorne Creek of which Guy Adams is the 5th generation owner. The No.6 name recognises the 6th generation of the family to live on the Metala property - Guy and Liz Adams' children. The No.6 Shiraz exemplifies balanced regional sweet red fruits and berries, pepper, spice and plush, soft tannins."

"Rich and saucy with cherry/ blackcurrant and a choc mint/ aniseed overlay - all very nice. The saucy theme continues with BBQ and pepper over juicy berry fruit flavours. The tannins are fine grained and chocolaty, the balance and drinkability very high with the oak low and folded neatly into the wine. It’s a really good one to just get stuck into and enjoy!"
