Sailing from his English home in 1839 with his brother, William Formby could not have imagined the legacy he would create. After settling in the new colony of South Australia he built successful businesses in Adelaide and Tasmania. In 1882 he purchased the now famous Metala property in Langhorne Creek.
With his son Arthur, he planted Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in 1891. Those ancestor vines still flourish today under the guardianship of 5th generation owner Guy Adams.
This wine carries the Formby family motto of
Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful
in recognition of the longevity of this family dynasty.
Barrel selected from the outstanding 2012 Vintage, this wine is a fine example of the quality fruit still borne by these ancient vines.
